What I've Been Doing

I've been working on a few things for the last month to try and use up my stash. I went through my 2-1/2" strips and cut up heaps to make Bonnie's Strip Twist (above). This is a very quick way to use the stash and to get some blocks created. If you don't know the website it is http://www.quiltville.com

I have made the 48 blocks needed for the quilt top. I just have to lay it out and pin it into rows and then sew. This was really an exercise in trying to deplete the stash more than anything.

Another project I'm trying to get going is Bonnie's Pineapple Blossom. This one is more time consuming with the cutting out and piecing but it is so effective. I've only made one block but have cut out for several more.

I'm really enjoying using up the stash.

Another stashbusting idea comes from Keryn's blog: http://www.quiltingtwin.blogspot.com/

This uses the same piecing technique as Bonnie's Strip Twist but I can't quite find the link for the instructions. Here's what you get. I cut one of the blocks wrong and that's why the pinwheel of the block on the left isn't quite right. But I'll still use it.

Will repost the picture and link when (and if) I find it.

Oh my goodness... well I think I'm hooked!

Including photos has been accomplished. Now for the next challenge... I want to make my blog more interesting like others I see that have pretty papers on the sides etc. How do I do that?

  4. Fabulous start to your blog world!!!! You can go back to cutestblogontheblock to change your page look. They have HEAPS of different looks where you can then add stuff to the sidebar (look for that sort of layout).
Also, check out my blog entry (the second half) for some housekeeping tips:
